It's more than that. The release of substandard games as the norm, and finishing the games through DLC, battlepasses, season passes, etc is a huge part of it. DLC used to tell new stories in the same setting. Now they tell the second half of the story you already paid for. Then battlepassses charge you the price of a new game for 2-3 months worth of content before re-upping when the next one drops. Live service models and micro transaction heavy models like GTA live and their shark cards are the biggest issue. It took us so long to get GTA 6 because Rockstar was so focused on making stupidly expensive stuff for GTA Online so people would keep buying shark cards. Same with battle pass games. COD releases a new game every year because the 2 month battle passes can only tell a story for so long that they need a reset. The pacing is killing them. These companies seem to forget that people have lives, work jobs, and dont have an infinite amount of money. But their pricing and pacing doesnt…
