That’s literally not what it means. Two things that complete each other (which is what complementing means) are not necessarily equal. Rather they enhance each other and lift the other up. But that does not mean equality.
They must be equal in value in order or to be complementary. Men are not greater or even better than women. In many cases, women are more versatile. Equal value=complementary.
You're free to participate in trad roles in your own life. The issue is when you start trying to force others to do the same thing.

As a feminist I wouldn’t say I believe in traditional roles alone. A feminist job is to support women in doing whatever they want. Whether it is raising 3 kids and being a stay at home mom or becoming a childless CEO. Or anything inbetween. I personally though feel like if you want to participate in traditional roles and be a stay at home wife/mom then you should do so safely. I cant fully get behind it cause there are so many men that see your inability to make money for yourself as a way of being stuck and god forbid they get abusive. My biggest thing would be just making sure you have a way out just incase.
