I'd be the same about women if I had spent an entire life of rejection and ended up single at middle age. It would hurt to see people walking around hand and hand and in love knowing that I was likely past the point now where i could ever experience true love and companionship, because over 80% of people are already partnered up. It would cripple me to have to face the fact that I was in the bottom 20% of desirability and that my loneliness at my age would feel like a failure because I wouldn't understand why people are so repelled by me. I'm so glad I'm married and happy but I totally can understand.
