The answer is quite simple and not stupid. A married man has more value than a single man. If another woman has decided that the man is worth marrying then he must have qualities and attributes that are desirable. It's not about women being petty and wanting another woman's man. It's about the perceived value in that man that she wants.
This is what guys think.. in reality, many women compete with each other. Its more of a one-up than a sign of that man's value. A man who lacks loyalty is inherently lacking the value that loyalty brings.
