I don't necessarily think that is true about every religion but it is specifically VERY true for the Abrahamic religions. They are just cults that have gotten large and out of control.

There comes a point in your journey as an atheist when you understand religion and the role it’s had on society as a whole. You understand that without religion, humanity would not have made it this far. We are meaning-making creatures that need community to thrive best in. It’s a part of life. I’m an atheist but there is a lot to learn from religion and many beautiful, beneficial aspects of it that we can take away from :)
