Biggest red flag is someone who believes in a legal punishment for "false" SA allegations. If you want protections that help abusers im going ti assume youre an abuser too, duh

I mean... Also... It IS illegal to make a false claim, already. It is illegal to falsely report ANY crime.

by 💍blue_wazoo🌈 · 2 hearts

Thank youuuu

by Daffodility · 3 hearts

If I'm remembering correctly, you're no more likely to be falsely accused of SA than of any other felony... It's very rare. I also think that a lot of people who want more legal punishments for it don't realize (or choose to ignore) that there is a MASSIVE difference between blatantly lying and being unable to prove that it happened.

by 💍blue_wazoo🌈 · 2 hearts

Exactly, especially because of how often people who actually commit SA genuinely belive theyve been falsely accused.

by yellow_harpooner · 5 hearts

How is it benefitting an abuser to give consequences to a false accuser?Genuinely interested in the mental gymnastics here ,because frankly falsely accusing someone of that ,is actual abuse and should not be tolerated .

by Biggie dog · 4 hearts

That’s a wild way of saying you’re an idiot.

by Silent_Minstrel · 3 hearts

The person that posted this did in fact sexually assault me.

by 💍blue_wazoo🌈 · 1 heart

Fantasize all you want but everyone knows I find men repulsive lol

by Anon2002 · 3 hearts

Yup, my ex said that but when his own dad groped me, it was suddenly ‘false’ too. They just put that label onto anything they don’t want to believe.

by Thatguy5 · 2 hearts

False allegations = jail time

by Thatguy5 · 1 heart

I feel like it’s just common sense. If it comes out completely fabricated the persons life is pretty much ruined and there needs to be consequences. There’s a difference between false allegations and not having enough evidence. You just sound very immature.

by NedwardToo · 3 hearts

Ah yes, make it even less likely for victims to come out

by normal_guy__ · 1 heart

You're an idiot. They're not an abuser if they didn't do it. Obviously

by 💍blue_wazoo🌈 · 1 heart

I think you're the idiot for not understanding what I said but this is hush so I can't be surprised

by Backdrop_Return · 1 heart

The thing is, people that do make false claims also help abusers. If nobody ever made a false claim then there would be no false claims and every claim would be genuine. The fact false claims exist are the reason that people can write off claims as false. So by not punishing these people you actively allowing more false claims to exist and therefore bring more doubt on the legitimate ones

by Backdrop_Return · 0 hearts

Like what? I agree you don't need anymore. If a claim is false when reported it's wasting police time which is a crime, if it goes to court and you lie it's perjury so it's already a crime. What could they possibly be wanting to add?

by Backdrop_Return · 0 hearts

To be fair though that's he argument you made, not the argument OP made. They said quite clearly "someone who believes in legal punishment for false SA allegations", there's no mention of new laws, just reads like they shouldn't be punished at all. Which is wild. It's wild regarding any crime.

Predators protect predators

by red_rationale · 0 hearts

I don’t want punishment for “false” allegations. I want them for false allegations.

by red_rationale · 0 hearts

Depends on where you are. But not universally there are not. In most of the western world, it is unpunished.

by red_rationale · 0 hearts

This is not a standard we hold with any other kind of law enforcement. The prison time may be the same, but the specific social impact is mitigated because basically no one is dragged specifically for false accusations, thus the act is not disincentivised. They’re given book deals. See mattress girl. Then we may as well just make sexual assault charges GBH, if I am to follow your logic.

If it’s false, they shouldn’t get any punishment… if they’re guilty, they should get punished… where are you lost

by Mojada · 0 hearts

Sounds like you use false allegations to punish men you don’t like and don’t want repercussions

by 💍blue_wazoo🌈 · 1 heart

Interesting that you mention gender when I never did. Affirms my belief that men just want to protect other men from consequence, rather than actually thinking critically about the dynamic between abusers and their victims

by Mojada · 0 hearts

Sweet cheeks, no person with a brain would think it’s OK to make false accusations against anybody else with no repercussions. I assumed your gender, and I assumed them properly based on the context of your statement. I am a woman who watched another woman make a false accusation against a man because she was afraid she was gonna lose her job for incompetence. Unfortunately, for the woman making the false accusation the man had airtight alibis for every one of the dates and times that she claimed he sexually assaulted her. And I’m glad to say that she not only got fired, but she got sued into oblivion. Lucky for her she didn’t make the accusations to cops she made them to HR.

by ILuvPeeOnMe💦👅 · 0 hearts

Dumb as fuck for that statement

by DesertSun · 0 hearts

If someone is lying about SA, then there is no abuser and therefore the only people being protected are innocent people

by 💍blue_wazoo🌈 · 0 hearts

Laws effect multiple people at a time btw

by DesertSun · 0 hearts

That may be true where you live. But around here, laws apply to all people. Not just a few selected by you.

by Satanic13 · 0 hearts

Id agree but people like Jemma Beale, do exist, who ruined many people's lives, And some form of consequence is necessary for her behavior.

by 💍blue_wazoo🌈 · 0 hearts

I looked up her name and the first thing I got was that she went to jail.... so wasnt she punished?

by Satanic13 · 0 hearts

The Point of Your Post was She shouldn't have Gone to jail though. as you said there Shouldn't have been Legal ramifications. I'm Pro her being in Jail, I'm just making a counter point to your argument that some people do cause real harm with false accusations, that weaken real victims voices.

by 💍blue_wazoo🌈 · 0 hearts

See she's not just being punished because the allegation was untrue, there was measurable damage that was proven in a court of law that she could then atone for with punishments completely different than what would/ should be given to rapists. My post was meant to disagree with those calling for further "protections" against false allegations, calling for the same punishment as sex offenders, and those who feel that a damaged social reputation calls for legal action

by skyward · 0 hearts

yup

by orange_hull · 0 hearts

This is a dumb take and has no nuance. I'm not opposed to the idea but you would have to have a high bar of proof

by 💍blue_wazoo🌈 · 1 heart

Thats the problem realistically, there is no way to prove a lie without lumping in behavior that would also be typical for a victim of sexual trauma, which is already why its so hard for real cases to get justice as it is

by 💍blue_wazoo🌈 · 0 hearts

Thats what I'm saying, like there are actually already a lot of protections in place for false allegations, the goal at hand should be working harder to catch actual perps because our system already tends not to believe sa allegations even if true

by ivory_urn · 0 hearts

Retard

by LilHopz · 0 hearts

If the defense is "helping abuser". Then wouldn't having repercussions for lying help eliminate more abusers? If you don't want all abusers delt with then I'm just going to assume you're an abuser yourself.

by 💍blue_wazoo🌈 · 0 hearts

I'm saying it would in practice be exploited by rapists exponentially more often than it would be used to protect someone from a false allegation. Even those who disagree with me can admit how rare false allegations are

by LilHopz · 0 hearts

That's like claiming we shouldn't investigate arsons because the fire department exist. More importantly, it ignores the fact that false alarms exhaust the departments resources, leaving them unprepared for real victims need the resources. Honor systems only works if everyone plays by the same rules. I agree with you they don't. So, by holding everyone equally accountable for their actions it eliminates loop holes for anyone... So I'm left wondering why there should be double standard 🧐
