At my last job I had my own cubicle and there was a storage cabinet that I would set my purse, and other personal items in that separated my cubicle from the guy behind me. On his side of the cubicle he had the same storage cabinets. Anyway... white people would come talk to him all the time and set up shop in MY cubicle, not his, NEVER his, WHILE I was sitting there working at my desk. Like I would have to ask them to move so I could get to MY cabinet, and get MY purse from MY storage space. Until one day I just got fed up and I started kicking their asses out of my cubicle. Like bitch do you not see me working here? I can't move around freely in MY space because YOU are talking to a motherfucker that has nothing to do with ME or MY work. But of course in a room full of white folk I was seen as the angry black woman and was told that I shouldn't have reacted that way, and that I could have just taken an "early lunch".
