As a lesbian I can assure you I'm not wearing them for men or their attention or anyones attention for that matter. I wear them because they're comfortable, breathable, also they're great for mobility because they aren't restrictive.
A lot of ppl are too stupid to exercise (no pun intended) critical thinking skills. The real reason women wear such clothing is because of successful marketing by the makers of athletic clothing in relation to oversexualising women's bodies. It it was purely about range of movement & comfortability then men would be rolling to the gym in tight booty shorts & yoga pants too & we all know that isn't happening, generally men wear loser clothing, the other factor is some women obviously like the attention they get from wearing oversexualised clothes.

because they're for exercise? they're designed for range of movement, friction and like swear wicking so they're a lot better to work out in, but also lounge pants work. it wouldn't matter what we wear, men will still leer, because exercise involves moving the body and flexing muscles and men are going to pay attention to that and then say we were the ones trying to get attention or w/e
