also, consumerism isn't evil. industrialization and over-producing is evil. creating products with the intent that they're not going to last is evil. that said, if course nothing will last forever. no product can be designed to last forever, because things deteriorate.

I mean, I have a phone after all, I don't think it's inherently evil to buy stuff, I just think it's wrong to have an identity that relies on buying things I guess

again, you're circling back to gender instead of consumerism and capitalism. two different things. sure, they can be related in different ways, but they're not the exact same. it's not just one thing.

how is it consumerist?

by GIGAN‼️RISE‼️ · 0 hearts

it requires consumption. makeup, impractical shoes and clothes, cutest accessories, shaving tools, etc.

by turquoise_geology · 0 hearts

it does not require consumption at all. that is performative femininity.

give me an example of femininity that isn't consumerist

I'd also argue both masculinity and femininity aren't even real. They're social constructs. They're simply performances that have no specific way of actually existing

🤦‍♂️

Why the face palm? It's true. Gender is a social construct just like gender roles.
