Ive read it cover to cover and had it blended up and poured down my throat as a kid. Its come in handy in debates and thats about it
Oh even if you dont believe it I highly recommend giving it a read. It really shines a light on the hypocrisy of the cult that modern American christianity has become.

That's totally fair. I am in the same boat as your partner and it really is a tough read. Given all the translation hell the book has been through word salad is an understatement.

Im catholic and ngl its not a well written work. It has its moments but it is meandering and obviously written to ve understood by uneducated shepherds back in the time

It was written to keep people from rebelling against a shitty king. Something that used to happen quite a lot in the days before guns. But hey convince people that killing is wrong and you are annoyed by god and ecerything works oht great until the mad church takes over for the next millenia.

I grew up in the church… none of the modern English Bible translations are true or correct translations that I have found so far so they’re all trash
