The God from the Bible is a cruel, unjust, jealous, genocidal maniac.

yeah sure the person who died on the cross to save humanity and healed many is all tht u mentioned. 🙄🙄

Jesus is a great example of how the God from the Bible is those things. Why would he NEED the blood sacrifice of a perfect human in order to forgive humanity?

by Huskerdust ¡ 0 hearts

Not to mention that the god from the Bible is also shown to be chill with genocide, slavery, collective punishment, sexual violence, and killing kids…so…

to answer u Jesus is God and dying on the cross is a symbol of compassion and forgiveness. as for being cool with genocide and slavery? have u read the story of Moses who literally freed slaves from Egypt? Sexual violence? now ur just straight up lying u do know sodom and gommorah was destroyed because they did sexual violence right?

by Filass ¡ 0 hearts

everything tht u said was the old testament thatw as very carrot and stick and was done to bring justice to kingdoms and cultures who did immoral things such as violence, harm and sexual immorality as well as idolatry who have been warned for centuries. us Christians do not follow the old testament because it has already been abolished by Jesus. if u want to criticize the God in the old testament then u shouldnt say bible but quran and the torah instead

I thought God was unchanging? The Old Testament is literally part of the Christian Bible, and Jesus worshiped the same God. Jesus even said, “I have not come to abolish the Law or the Prophets” (Matthew 5:17). So “that was the Old Testament” doesn’t explain why a supposedly perfectly good God once commanded things you now admit would be immoral. Also, the Torah is part of the Old Testament…the Quran isn’t.

u are correct the old testament is part of the Christian bible but it isnt followed by Christians. the Torah is the old testament and the Quran is very similar to the old testament as well that commands non believers to be killed, children to be married and enslaved, as well as murder in the name of Allah. why dont u atheist left ever condemn that?

by Huskerdust ¡ 0 hearts

The Torah is part of the Old Testament, not the whole thing. And the Quran is irrelevant to whether the biblical God is moral. I can condemn immoral teachings in Islam too; that doesn’t make God commanding slavery or killing children in the Bible suddenly okay. That’s just whataboutism. Also, atheism isn’t a political ideology, so “atheist left” is doing a lot of work there.

numbers 31 actually explains that because the midianites have led the israelites to idolatry they are punished. the virgin girls that were kept is to protect them from murder because they are innocent and as for sodom and gomorrah yes sexual immorality was mentioned and a group of men actually wanted to 🍇 2 angels disguised as men in Lots house

by Huskerdust ¡ 0 hearts

“Protect them from murder”? God/Moses literally orders the male children killed in the previous sentence. And the girls aren’t spared because they’re morally innocent…they’re sorted by virginity and told to be kept “for yourselves” (Numbers 31:17–18). If innocence were the standard, why kill the little boys?

by Filass ¡ 0 hearts

and killing kids? Jesus Himself said if someone ever harms or lead astray children it is better for them to have their necks tied with a millstone and thrown into the sea

by Huskerdust ¡ 0 hearts

Okay, then reconcile that with God commanding, ‘kill both man and woman, child and infant’ in 1 Samuel 15:3, the killing of the Egyptian firstborn in Exodus 12:29, and Moses ordering the Midianite boys killed in Numbers 31:17. If harming children merits a millstone, what standard are you applying to God?

here we go again, u have brought up the old testament laws that were already abolished by Jesus Himself and was treated completely normal back in the day. and what did the amalekites do in the story of samuel? they ambushed the weak and elderly, did child sacrifices, and moral decay

by Huskerdust ¡ 0 hearts

Those aren’t “Old Testament laws.” They’re things God did or commanded. Jesus supposedly changing the covenant later doesn’t undo God ordering infants killed earlier. And “the Amalekites were evil” doesn’t explain why their babies deserved execution. Babies didn’t ambush anyone or sacrifice children.
