Why is it that when men's mental health starts to deteriorate, their partners never seem to notice?

Because men choose to close themselves off and not open up or even get themselves help. Y'all just expect everyone to be mind readers. People can't care about your problems if they don't know you're having issues. If you're struggling talk to a therapist too. That's what they're for.

To be fair, I have talked to a therapist. Which has helped me open up to my partner more. But even when I do that, rarely does she actually listen

by azure_means · 0 hearts

Sounds like you have a shitty partner

by Batty- · 4 hearts

I think men hide those things because of some internal feeling of shame for having those feelings in the first place. Like somehow you’re less of a man because you’re sad/depressed/whatever. It all comes down to the individual circumstances as to why women wouldn’t notice.

by Martin06 · 4 hearts

You don't need her consent to get treatment. Help yourself and stop being a puss.

by missgorgeous · 3 hearts

you don’t need women’s say so to get yourself into therapy btw

by Carrot_IRL · 0 hearts

Tell me you never supported someone who dealt with depression without telling me...

by white_bowl · 3 hearts

I never noticed because they always hid how they felt and refused to actually discuss their feelings. Can't notice something if it's not there to he noticed. At this point I don't care about men's problems. Y'all refuse to help yourselves.

by Curious 46 · 0 hearts

No, men don't talk about it because of this reason, you don't care, nobody cares, nobody gives a shit about what men go through, when men talk about anything that's going on it gets used against us so most men never get help because they're either ridiculed for it or this exact attitude, you don't care and because you don't care men don't get help because they pretty much see it is useless cuz you're just going to treat them like shit anyway.

I was 23 years old. Dating a guy that was 26. I asked him one day how he was feeling mentally because I noticed signs of depression. And that mofo spazzed out on me. I broke up with him that same moment, and months later he sent me a text and offed himself. I deleted it and moved on with my life. ✨️ Why stress to help someone else when they don't want to be helped?

by MoreBacon · 0 hearts

So what happens if he says he wants help but doesn't know where to start? Would you have helped him then?

by Xndhshhsbdha · 0 hearts

Absolutely, in a heart beat. We've all been there. We all need a helping hand. And sometimes we just need a slight push in the right direction while the fog in our minds clear. Then we can see the path forward ourselves.

by MoreBacon · 0 hearts

It's way too much to type in a comment. But I've essentially done that. And I just don't feel like I'm being listened to

by Backdrop_Return · 3 hearts

If you're having mental health issues then half the time you don't even know what's going on in your own head but you expect someone else too? The fuck kinda logic is that? It's not someone else's job to work out if you need help or not, it's your job to tell them.

by MoreBacon · 0 hearts

You're making a lot of assumptions. Great input though

by Backdrop_Return · 2 hearts

Which part is the assumption? I'm responding directly to what you just said

by white_bowl · 0 hearts

EXACTLY

by fudgeynugs · 2 hearts

Mine noticed and peaced the fuck out..

by Stevensnewphone · 1 heart

Same bruh

by Stevensnewphone · 2 hearts

Because we pretend were fine until its too late

by RBF Life · 2 hearts

Because men have shit attitudes and personalities on a regular basis so we don't really notice a shift in that behaviour.

by turquoise_comfort · 1 heart

Why is it men are never accountable for themselves and actually seek therapy like women do and then they want to blame the rest of the world for their unaccountability or you know they end up murdering their family

by fierycrab · 0 hearts

Alot of men go to therapy then their wives leave them for a "more strong" man

by blue_organising · 0 hearts

Men are wired differently. I sos years of therapy and it fucked me up more.

by ParrotLady🦜 · 1 heart

Their fault for picking a shitty partner I’d say

by LovePill · 1 heart

Well i notice but they will get defensive and avoidant when you mention it

by GamerKitty · 1 heart

That's funny cause it depends on the person.

by -Anonymish- · 1 heart

They do notice. Don’t extrapolate your experience into an inaccurate generalization and then use that as proof of something that isn’t there. If your partner doesn’t notice, that a you guys problem.

by PinkL0ve · 1 heart

We do but it’s only so much we can do if you’re not willing to get help, we can’t force you to. And it’s a lot of times when men are going through mental or financial hardship, they push their girl away & shut her out.

by WhimsiGothRed · 1 heart

Because you have a shitty partner and dont know how to communicate. This isnt a universal experience. This is a you and your partner thing

by MoreBacon · 0 hearts

This is what bothers me. I feel like I'm wasting the good years of my life in this marriage

by WhimsiGothRed · 0 hearts

So stop. If youre not willing to work on your marriage get a divorce so you can both move on

by maroon_goldfish · 1 heart

Because most women are narcissists and barely care about anything outside their interests

by MoreBacon · 0 hearts

Making a hate post generally means you're the problem 🙃

by maroon_goldfish · 0 hearts

Since when is pointing out the facts considered hate?

by svckafvck · 1 heart

I notice but sometimes men wont let themselves be helped. I try.

by white_bowl · 0 hearts

You can't help people who won't help themselves. Men need to start helping themselves.

by Curious 46 · 0 hearts

Men won't let themselves be helped because it gets used against them, most men get ridiculed or shamed for how they feel, too many times men have trusted women and thought they were safe so they get nervous about trust

by Hoggins · 1 heart

Because women only care about themselves

by Youreboriiingg · 2 hearts

Nope it's because men choose to isolate themselves and not communicate. Y'all are to blame for your own problems. Can't help someone who won't help themselves.

by Hoggins · 0 hearts

Typical misandrist. Kill your fucking self

by SD_OH86 · 1 heart

This is an issue for everyone with mental illness that’s why awareness and being empowered to speak up is important

by Thatxbaldxguy · 0 hearts

They only care about their own needs and rarely ours

by Ignatius · 0 hearts

Men are the more stoic sex because historically we've had to be the protectors.

Let's face it, nobody gives a damn about men's health, including mental health. Soon as I started opening up about my issues in therapy, lady got real annoyed with me, ended therapy early 🤣 we suppose to be alphas/strong, we deal with our feelings by working out, making money, digging in pussy etc. No emotion is allowed
