Why would someone lie about getting beaten as a kid?
I imagine one would do so to establish a false sense of relatability or empathy between the two of you in order to exploit your trauma as a way into your life..that鈥檚 my best guess

Some people are still embarrassed or feel ashamed
Ashamed of not being beat?
Lots of reasons to like that they were or weren鈥檛.
are they saying the did but actually didn鈥檛? if so, they could be doing it for attention. if its the opposite way, they could be embarrassed like the other comment said.
