It’s been one year since I lost my Father. Nothing but time helps. I still think of him everyday. Most days I’m ok. Some days I cry. It’s just what it’s going to be. Surround yourself with positive thoughts and good friends and family.

Let yourself sit in your feelings. Don't try to rush it. It's gonna be tender for awhile..it also may push u to do things..but go with the flow

Just time. The grief doesn’t go away or get smaller. You just grow around it.

Do not turn to substances.

I’ve lost the people in my life who were like parents. I love my real parents. But I might as well be raising them. It’s hard. I take some solace in the good memories. But it also hurts to think on those good memories for long, because they’re all I have left.

Lost my mom 3 years ago and at first it was difficult even with having closure. And having always been with her any chance I got. I still cry obviously especially hearing her voice when a video memory pops up. And realizing my boys will never know their grandma but she's in a better place. That usually helps me 🫶 sending hugs 🫂

I didnt react for the first year. I had no feelings when I found out. Slowly, I started having heartache. And we didnt have a very good relationship. He was very abusive. Yet, I kept finding things I wanted to send him because I knew he liked it. I stopped watching Marvel movies and being happy about them after he passed. I spent my first birthday without him, and I could feel the pain and sadness coming. I had come fo work early one day with myhusband because it saves us gas, and I sat in the back and cried 4 times. I had to take deep breathes multiple times because I kept reaching the point of almost bursting into tears and sobbing. I still think about it sometimes. But the thoughts get interrupted by all the nad memories.

Just time

My dad when i was 12. My mom took me to church thinking it would help. I learned to just not talk about it so I could skip church. I didn't deal with it til last year. Found a greif group that I find funny is held in a basement of an old church turned into cafe/bar and event space. I find trying to learn how to make furniture and garden helps because those were his hobbies.

Both my parents are gone. My mother was my abuser so not super sad about that one. My dad, well I got to see him dying so I had months to cope with his loss before he died. I moved from the state it happened in and ended up in hardship that made it hard to mourn. Do not recommend

My dad died so unexpectedly and I was only a teen, I found a hobby, crochet for me.

My dad was abusive so i didn't care. I still haven't cried. The hardest part for me was being polite to people who gave me their sympathies because i know they were trying to be kind but to me it wasn't a loss so i never really felt the grief.

Idk, it all felt surreal to me so I’d have random moments of “Oh shit, he’s really gone”. I feel like I shifted to another reality. The best advice I can give to you is that I’m sure they wouldn’t want you to hold yourself back in life (assuming you had a good relationship with them). Can’t tell you how you should cope, I still grieve from time to time. And it’s been like 7 years.

I am sorry if this did happen!! You may try therapy because at least you will be able to talk to someone throughout the journey.

For the first ten years I dealt with it with work, stress and light drinking. Then the next ten years I managed it in the same way but with weed and a little more drinking. To be honest I just find peace being high

They say time helps.. I tried alcohol

Yes, and navigating it was and is awful. You end up with a giant hole in your heart that never really goes away and you just have to keep living your life. The only thing that helped even a bit was talking about it. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Yeah. When I was 8 at the supermarket. I just got the lady to announce there was a lost boy over the speaker and all was resolved.
