Do you think if teachers were paid more, education in the US would be better?
Yes, but the real problem is that education is undervalued in this country. We need to teach our children from a very young age how to read, write and do math. My nine-year-old can do sums in her head that most highschoolers cannot do because I dedicated a lot of of their early life to education. 
You’re a really good mom to those kids, I learned a lot of my math skills from my parents too and it’s always served me well.

It might make it so some people that might otherwise try a higher paying career decide to be teachers, but that's not the root cause. The schools need to actually discipline and remove disruptive students. Parents need to actually care that their children learn. And if you cannot actually read or do math, prepare to be held back.
No. Getting rid of no child left behind would be a great start. Also firing the shit teachers who teach via worksheets 95% of the time.

I think there’s a big problem with how our society and culture view education. It’s not very valued. Might take more than just increasing teachers wages we need to over haul the structure and make it more engaging to students. I do think teachers are terribly underpaid though

Public schools in general need funding, but yes educators need better pay as well. We used to have some great teachers until people realized theres no way to survive and help their students thrive on that salary.

But still. The ones that had the willingness to learn. I took placement tests for middle and high schools i went to. I didn’t like being bothered by others when I came to education when I was younger. Only when it came to fees I couldn’t because my mom, single black woman with 2 kids, just wasn’t happening
Maybe if parents did their part at home, it has nothing to do if we get paid more or not. In the end,teachers are the fall out when it comes to how parents parent.

As a teacher, yes. Compensation impacts recruitment. Schools would get better candidates, and the teachers they already have would be less stressed and better able to care for themselves with additional salary.

Education gets worse not just because of tired, underpaid staff, but also because of disrespectful kids that just don't care because their parents never taught them some respect, also an internet that showed them a bunch of 20-something years old kids that are "successful" without a degree of any kind, and alot more issues.

If teachers taught the subject matter instead of trying to teach about being Trans or queer.. that would make education better. If bad teachers were fired. That would make education better. If both parents would stick around instead of vomiting crimes, get gang activity out of the schools a hundred or more things would make education better. Having said that, teachers don't make enough and they don't get enough of the right support.
