Nail polish however can be. It can create a food safety hazard as it can chip and end up in people's food. Hence the food safety requirements against it.

I would argue it's more hazardous than unclean! But I totally agree with that lol I wouldn't want someone with polish or charms or glitter on their nails working on my food at all!!
