As a bisexual women, it's fine to have a preference

by who knowss · 1 heart

No, because their life experiences are different. But most of the time that isn't the reason I hear, normally it's something biphobic

It’s pretty biphobic to assume what experiences a bi person has had. Not only that but no one has had the same experiences as someone else

I'm bi. But the bi experience is different than the lesbian experience, that's just reality.

I was bi and now I’m completely gay, there’s really not much difference

I can’t think of a single non-biphobic reason to not date someone solely because they are bi

For me, its just that we have different societal experiences and I prefer to date someone who inherently understands mine. Im les4les for the same reasons im t4t.

I just responded to the person below me that it’s biphobic to assume what experiences a bi person has had, you don’t know. It’s also not at all the same as being T4T because the power dynamics between trans and cis people are not the same between bi people and gays or lesbians. In fact, bi people are marginalized within our community and as gays and lesbians, we need to acknowledge our privilege there

I agree with your second point for sure. Obviously we dont know all of someones life experiences due to their orientation, but we know that society thinks of us differently and treats us differently, which gives us some difference in life experience. Every lesbian knows that loving the same sex is one layer, but completely rejecting the potential of a heterosexual relationship brings another level of societal disapproval that a bisexual wouldnt have faced. Same way a bisexual person will face the societal disapproval of "not picking just one" or being "greedy" or "more likely to cheat". All bullshit, but all experiences i dont face as a lesbian. We have different life experiences. Neither are less valid, just different.

It's not inherently biphobic, but I've seen a lot of lesbians who give some pretty biphobic reasons for it unfortunately 😭

by 💍blue_wazoo🌈 · 0 hearts

That is also very true, biphobia definitely exists in the community

by fashion killa🦇 · 0 hearts

what are the reasons

by Suck My Kiss · 0 hearts

It’s not a phobia to not date anyone you don’t want to

by 💍blue_wazoo🌈 · 0 hearts

Depends on the reason, you *can* hold phobic or bigoted beliefs about a people which then causes you to not experience attraction towards them. But not always

by Suck My Kiss · 1 heart

It’s called a preference. Not everything is a shot against a group of people just because you want to take the moral high ground all the time
