In what world is a 12 hour shift not 4 hours ot? This company got me fucked up. They are lucky I can’t afford a lawyer the back pay would completely bankrupt them.

Not every state. But I do see the author is in CA so that is true there so unless they're a contractor they should qualify for OT. @auther you don't need an attorney, contact state labor board, they'll investigate

Depends if you're hourly or salary, or freelance. Either way, talk with coworkers and check with HR on that. Might be wise to consider a lawyer.

Some states are a 40hr week for OT not 8hr day. Typically red states are like that. In those states they could work you 3 x 13 hr days and you wouldn't qualify for OT

State law requires nonexempt employees to get OT after 8 hours in a single day.
