Unless you're a moron that thinks utopia is achievable, then yes. There will always be people who actively make many decisions against their best interests. Based on your posts, you're one of these people. It's not the job of productive and functional people to look after dysfunctional strangers. If you just graduate high school, work full time, and don't have a kid out of wedlock, you almost certainly won't be in poverty in the US. That's easy for basically all but the seriously disabled, and we have social services and charity for them.
