A lot of people get jobs that are designed as a stepping stone into the world world and job economy and they just stay there. Many waitresses/waiters complain about not getting paid enough yet when you ask them why not find a better paying job it’s well it pays my bills. I graduated high school and went into an entry level job making $25 with a $50 certificate. Before that I was making minimum wage wt zaxbys and worked my way up to 10$ then started making $15 at Foodlion.
Look here dipshit. You like being able to eat and having access to consumer goods? Then you have to pay a living wage for the time it takes people to make all that possible. If you think that the people who build our roads, grow and cook our food, and stock our shelves dont deserve to earn enough to live a prosperous life and raise a family then you should just be taken out back like old yeller.

A cashier that cant do math doesnt deserve more than minimum wage. A construction worker who can't use a hammer doesnt deserve more than minimum wage. Its possible to earn a living wage at your first job if you grew up not living under a rock or glued to the tv. Its also possibly to buy groceries and pay your share of rent on minimum wage if you live with roommates for a year or two.
Bad workers can be fired. That’s separate from whether the job should pay a livable wage. And ‘you can survive with roommates’ isn’t the same as the job paying enough to live. If a full-time worker needs someone else’s income to afford shelter, the wage isn’t sustaining the worker
I agree but I don’t think it’s as much of a wage issue and more of a greed issue. You have billion dollar companies making record profits while skyrocketing prices. Blaming different thing like supply chain issues a but when those reasons for the higher prices disappear the prices remain.

Wages are a cost of doing business. Wages go up, costs go up, prices go up.

Minimum wage law is literally one mechanism to raise wages across the board at the bottom. Stronger unions, sectoral bargaining, overtime enforcement, wage transparency, anti-wage-theft enforcement, and indexing wages to cost of living are also plans. The point is not ‘should’ as a vibe. The point is labor standards. Also, wages haven’t kept up with cost of living in decades.
