No. Whoever told you that never knew how to develop a friendship with someone of the opposite sex. Most of my guy friends are now dating someone, and it’s not me. Did the question come up with some of them? Of course. But we discerned it, and just friends was a better option for one reason or another. Nothing romantic has ever happened, and I’m celibate until marriage, so nothing sexual has either.
