PSA: Groceries aren't expensive. Having everything PRE-made for you is. Get back to basics. Make food from scratch. It is CHEAPER, healthier, and better tasting.

Not all ingredients are cheap. Not every meal requires the same ingredients. If you have a larger family to feed, you need at least double the ingredients. Besides, a lot of food now has hella gmo. People live paycheck to paycheck and often work a lot. I think you should encourage gardening and canning instead of judging people for buying what they can afford. Or better yet, start an organization that can provide food pantries. I think that would be way more helpful. Be the change you want to see in your community
I moved off grid and provide for myself. I do give my extra food away. I offer recipes.

Man when I get groceries I always start with fruits, veg, and then meat. I try to buy my meat in frozen bulk or on sale to save money and it always ends up being extremely expensive just for the basics.

It cost me more to make a loaf of bread then it dose to buy it. And I make bread regularly but the cost for the loaf vs how much it is to buy it sucks and that's on the cheaper end of the homemade stuff I made.
but if you're making everything at home, you also have to consider the cost of time to prep and make the meal, and the cost of water to do the dishes afterwards

Groceries are expensive, as is the time to cook and do meal prep. It's not uncommon to have multiple jobs, which means you just don't have time to cook for yourself. There's a lot more that goes into it, and it's not so easy as "just make your own food"
