Do you think romanticizing the past and tradition is people longing for a purpose or role in life?

Old men often romanticize old practices and traditions because it was more acceptable to treat women like property back then. It was more acceptable to mistreat minorities. They miss not being called out for their shitty behavior. Burn it all to the ground, I say. Make way for the future. If you live in the past, you will never evolve.

I think it’s a recognition of how good having standards are and how they don’t translate to today because everyone has an exception for everything.

Id say it’s a form of elitism, to separate one’s values from other’s in a way the elevates them.
